OH MY PUTO

Mom made some dinugaan so  what is the best partner of this Filipino  dish than   munch on some PUTO , so I decided to  make some from scratch . 



INGREDIENTS:

• 4 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups white sugar
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 6 eggs
• • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 2 1/4 kraft cheddar cheese, grated

HOW TO  MAKE AND COOK PUTO 

1. Grease small cake, puto molds, or ramekins for use in a steamer. Mix the flour, sugar, and baking powder together in a bowl. In a separate, large bowl, scramble the eggs with the evaporated milk and water. Fold the dry mixture into the eggs until evenly blended. Fill the prepared molds 2/3 of the way up with the batter and top with shredded cheese.
2. Fill a wok or a sauce pan that will hold a steamer basket with a few inches of water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Place the molds into a steamer basket and place over the boiling water and cover.
3. Steam until a toothpick inserted in the center of one of the putos comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.

Another family  day  with mom and aunts satisfied with my  home made cooking =)

So when Simone Legno collaborated with Sanrio's Hello Kitty ...

I Had to get this 

All I can say  is AWESOME!!! 

This is one of my fave Hello Kitty Product ever besides of being a limited and rare edition.

It's a beautiful and cute way  to  sip my coffee every  morning  (^_^)

Michiko Coconut Soup [ GINATAANG BILO-BILO]

It's getting colder and colder each day  as winter months arrived here in the east coast . 

I was craving for this semi sweet sticky  soup  that  is  common in Philippines as MERIENDA in the afternoon , so I decided to  cook  this  so called merienda which  Filipinos call GINATAANG BILO BILO  or we call here in the states as MICHIKO COCONUT SOUP 

INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING   BILO -BILO  

FOR MAKING THE GLUTINOUS BALLS

1 cup glutinous rice flour

1/2 cup water

1. Combine glutinous rice flour and water.

2. Mix the mixture thoroughly. A soft yet sticky mixture should be formed.

3. Scoop about 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball shaped figure using your hands. Tip: Try to wet your hands a little to prevent the mixture from sticking.

4. Place the mixture in a plate or any flat container and do the same steps until all the mixture is used up.

FOR  SWEET BASE SOUP  PART

1. In a large pot, bring coconut milk, sugar,  sweet potato, jack fruit and tapioca to a boil. When tapioca turns transparent in color, add the rice balls and saba banana.

2. Add remaining pure coconut milk when the rice balls are soft and firm. Boil for 5 more minutes.

4. Serve hot.

Mom and aunts were happy eating this special  Merienda I made for  the family this  weekend , who couldn't resist we miss this merienda dish  and literally  the last  time I ate one from Manila is way  back  in  1998.

Delman Audrey Kitten Heels

I  am a person who  wore more heels than flats ( really no kidding , I  feel  more comfy  when I  wear heels) , so  when I needed a shoe for evening cocktail  parties or for  any  black  tie event , I didn't hesitated to  buy  the Audrey  Lace Kitten Heel Shoe by  DELMAN  in Nordstrom. 

These beautiful evening pumps from DELMAN are the perfect wedding event shoe besides of its beauty and comfort. It is a sophisticated shoe  with a kitten heel that will have me dancing the night away because of it's  heels not being too high that  will  surely put  a smile on my face. 


The shoes are originally priced for $385 and was slashed to  $ 99 plus the  tax. It seemed s a little bit pricey, but I  thought of it as a good investment if   it will  be for a long run in which my money is worth it for that price.


Materials are from satin , lace and little floral hand made ribbons which gives the shoes its elegance and beauty and the design of the shoe does depicts where it is made (  Hecho  en  España ) no wonder it has those cute little petals .

It comes with a shoe dust bag where you can stash it away  safely and carefully to  keep  off any  elements from ruining  these lovely vintage effect  shoes.

Tokidoki 24 Karat Collection

My  Little indulgences .... [AGAIN]

Tokidoki launched the  24 Karat collection  in Fall of 2011 (if I'm not mistaken) , but I waited till  this month to  get them and luckily  I was still able  to  avail  what's left in this 24 Karat Collector's Edition.

I wanted the train case , but since they  ran out, I ended up   with the pencil  case pouch. It's beautiful with it's eccentric black and white design and of course gold .

Everyone who collects Tokidoki  knows that most  of the make up products has a free toy in it and  how could you  not get gooh goog gagah over such cute little things. 

The 4 PCS Brush Collection is what I really wanted, and I was lucky to get hold of these babies . The bristles are soft and the little charms in the end of the brushes can be turned into  a cute Tokidoki Bracelet [ how cool is that  huh? ]

 

RIP Tito Boy

We got a call at around 3:30am when i suddenly can hear my cousins crying in the background and while I was talking to his  eldest  daughter, Kris Anne .....


I can hear her just  saying the words "ATE DADDY IS GONE !!!"


We frantically went to  Phoenixville Hospital in ICU area where he was rushed 


I really thought it was a dream , then it all hit us , he was really gone 


All I can do  is to comfort my cousins ( 4 girls to be exact )


then we all started calling our relatives all over  the country  and in Philippines .

The last time I saw him was this year's Thanksgiving ...

 before Christmas, I never thought that my family will be preparing a funeral
